Amongst all the changes that have taken place in Greece the past decade, the regeneration and the reconsideration of certain old stereotypes and ideas, is probably the strongest one to point out. In an attempt to break one more convention of the past, P.MAIDIS put himself in the spot of the spectator, and through his documentary series Mandy & Rico, he shares the story and the daily routine of two total strangers, who through their parallel lives and fleeting moments, have more things in common than the viewer and even themselves, could imagine.
This series explores the reality of two socially perpetual outsiders, revealing them under a different light than the one, under which they are usually seen, capturing their interaction with their environments, in the Athenian, thriving underground scene. Mandy, a pole dancer, fighting through her passion and work the objectification of women, “meets” Rico, a boxer, idolized through his wins. They are both faltering between the subcultures they serve and the contemporary Greek society, embracing one more time the importance and the impermanence of being.
